Fans react to Marcos Rojo's performance for Argentina in Copa America final

The Manchester United defender had a poor game at left-back.

Argentina were left disappointed yesterday after they lost to Chile on penalties in the Copa America final. Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez tucked away a panenka penalty to win the tie and give the home nation glory.

After losing the World Cup final to Germany last summer, Argentina must be sick of their recent final record.

For two Manchester United players it was a game to forget. Angel Di Maria came off injured and Marcos Rojo, well he had a game to forget.

The defender was playing at left-back in the game and he struggled throughout. Rojo, who has played most of his time at United at centre-back, put in a poor performance.

His touch was woeful, positioning atrocious and he should have been sent off. His tackling was reckless and rash throughout and he should have picked up two yellow cards. The referee, seemed to take pity on him.

He summed up his performance when he tried to take a throw-in and, like a schoolboy, commited a foul throw.

Manchester United fans were just one group of many who were critical of their own player’s performance on Twitter – with some really laying into him.

Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter…
