A round up of news stories this morning related to Arsenal.

The Independent has reported that Arsenal have made initial contact with the representatives of Barcelona winger Pedro.

The talented Spanish middle man is a key target for the Gunners according to the paper, as Arsene Wenger looks to further improve his squad ahead of next season.

The paper claims that Liverpool are a potential club that could still come in and spoil the party.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has been quoted by the Daily Express suggesting that Petr Cech needs to get over his emotional ties to Chelsea.

Cech was recently confirmed as Arsene Wenger’s latest summer signing, as the Gunners shape up for the start of the new season next month.

Lehmann has suggested that Cech needs to know that Arsenal expect him to be a key figure in their pursuit of silverware on multiple fronts.

“At Chelsea, for Petr, it was his passion and he showed great commitment. But, as a professional, he must get over it and needs to know Arsenal want him to win things again for them,” he said.

Lehmann has also been quoted by the Daily Mail and the Sun suggesting that midfielder Mesut Ozil needs to prove that he can be the difference in big games for the Gunners.

The German feels that his fellow countryman isn’t doing enough in the big games to decide tense situations for the Gunners.

“He can definitely do that but now he must prove it. You need to know how to think and how to programme yourself,” he said.
