West Ham United have been linked with a very talented teenager and he could be a great long-term investment for them.
At first glance, the newspaper’s claim that West Ham are ready to fight Tottenham Hotspur for the £10million signing of an 18-year-old may seem unlikely.
After all, that is a lot of money to spend on anyone let along a youngster with limited experience in the game; but Embolo is not like most players his age.
The forward started his youth career at Nordstern before moving first to Old Boys and then Basel, where he made his senior debut at just 17.
Scoring on his league debut against Aarau, there was no looking back, and the alleged West Ham target now has 50 senior games under his belt, scoring 18 goals and providing 13 assists in the process.
In short, this is no ordinary teenager.
As if that was not enough, Embolo made his debut for Switzerland’s senior side just a month after his 18th birthday and he has three caps to date.
Is he worth £10m? That is debatable. But the simple fact is players like Embolo do not come around every day and if West Ham really are interested as the Sunday People suggests, they would be wise to act quickly.
If they do not, another club will, and in time Embolo has all the attributes to be a wonderful forward, and a versatile one at that, able to play up front on his own, as a secondary striker or on the right wing if required.
