Tottenham transfer news: Three-way chase for Embolo, United make contact regarding Kane and Capoue deal imminent

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

According to a report from the Sun, Manchester United have made direct contract with Tottenham Hotspur to discuss a potential move for England international Harry Kane.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a remarkable individual campaign last season, scoring 31 goals in 51 matches and earning senior international recognition, scoring for England in the process.

Such form was always going to attract potential suitors and the Sun claims United officials have approached Tottenham about the player, who has been linked with a potential £40million exit. But let’s face it Spurs are not going to do business regardless of the fee.

In other news, the Watford Observer reports that Watford are poised to announce the signing of Tottenham midfielder Etienne Capoue.

The Frenchman has not had the best of times at White Hart Lane but the latest report claims all terms have now been agreed and a deal for the midfielder is set to be announced next week.

And finally, the Sunday People reports that Tottenham are one of three Premier League clubs battling for FC Basel striker Breel Embolo.

The 18-year-old is reportedly rated at £10million and while that may seem pricey for one so young, his form for the Swiss side has been very impressive.

Embolo has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in 50 games for Basel and he already has three senior caps for Switzerland.
