Tottenham fans debate reported Erik Lamela-Xherdan Shaqiri swap proposal

Inter Milan are reportedly willing to let Xherdan Shaqiri move to Tottenham Hotspur in exchange for Erik Lamela.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have had their say on a report claiming that Inter Milan are considering making a cash plus player offer for Erik Lamela.

According to Calciomercato.com, Italian giants Inter are open to including Xherdan Shaqiri in a deal to sign Argentina international winger Lamela this summer.

Switzerland international winger Shaqiri moved to the Nerazzurri from German giants Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, but it seems that coach Roberto Mancini does not want him any more.

Lamela struggled in his debut season in the Premier League in 2013-14, but during the 2014-15 campaign he showed promising signs.

It was not the former AS Roma star’s best season, but the 23-year-old certainly played much better than he did in 2013-14.

In 33 Premier League appearances for Tottenham, Lamela scored two goals and created 60 chances.

The former River Plate star had a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and won six headers, 55 dribbles and 65 tackles.

Tottenham fans have been discussing the report, and below are the best comments (all comments are from this story: Report: Inter Milan to propose cash plus Xherdan Shaqiri for Tottenham’s Erik Lamela).

Marcus Higgins: “His 1st year doesn't really apply because he was injured for much of it. He's improved a lot this last season and provided the most assists for the season. Let's give him another season because he's got something special that could turn him into being a real match-winner.

"Looks like his confidence is flooding back. Shaqiri is erratic and seems to move around a lot, too much of a risk, then how long will it take for him to settle down - another wasted year ?.”

h20poloman: “Certainly we have seen little from Lamela to suggest he is going to terrify our PL rivals' defences or score many goals, whereas we have seen some very good performances from Shaqiri for clubs and country. Seems like a good deal to me or, if not Lamela, Soldado if we can get a reasonable return on our outlay.”

TheBubbleberry420: “Keep lamela and buy Shaqiri then we will have Chadli and Townsend to play left (Townsend cuts in and shoots wildly too much from the right) Eriksen Dembele and Pritch to battle it out for No 10 and Lamela and Shaqiri to play right.

"Then we get Nzonzi so we have him Bentaleb Dembele Mason Alli /maybe keep Stambouli and sell Dembele. (Probably worth more money) Get mitrovic up front and sell ads or Soldado and get Alderweireld to partner Jan.”

AJ Harding: “Highly unlikely to happen - Jovetic, Perisic and Salah (once legal issues are sorted out) are all about to join Inter - swapping Shaqiri for a player of equal talent but more injury prone is not a great move. Possible Mancini tries to offer Guarin to Spurs considering he knows how badly they spend their transfer money.”

Anthony Berry: “Lamella has talent, the question is can he continue to adapt to the demands of the premier league so he produce at a high level on a consistent basis.

"The number of assists he created shows he can spot a key pass, Spurs don't have many players who can do that currently. I suggest we keep Lamela for at least one more season. Shaqiri sounds like another Lamela type player.

"Lots of skill but can he deliver. Spurs may have to waste another season waiting for him to deliver and he is not even playing well so his confidence will not be great.”
