Report: Nottingham Forest interested in former Newcastle player Ryan Taylor

Forest City Ground

Championship rivals Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers are reportedly interested in former Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic player Ryan Taylor.

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing former Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor, according to The Sun.

Taylor, who can also play in midfield, is a free agent at the moment, having been released by Premier League outfit Newcastle at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.

The Sun claims that Forest’s Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers are also interested in the 30-year-old, but Reds manager Dougie Freedman will speak to him in order to convince him to move to the City Ground.

Would Ryan Taylor be a good signing for Nottingham Forest?

Taylor has played in the Championship before, which means that he knows what to expect if he does move to Forest this summer.

Given that the Englishman will not cost any transfer fee, it would be a wise move from Forest to snap him up.

However, Taylor has suffered with injuries over the past few years, and this could be a factor to bear in mind as the season progresses.

Moreover, the former Tranmere Rovers and Wigan Athletic man is 30 years of age.

Taylor, though, will bring bags of experience of him, and that will be important for a team aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship.
