Report: Newcastle make enquiry about Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan

St James Park

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan.

Newcastle United have stepped up their interest in Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan, according to Sud Ouest.

Last month, The Chronicle claimed that the 22-year-old could be offered to Newcastle, and it now seems that the Premier League outfit are keen on his services.

Sud Ouest claims that the Magpies have made an enquiry about signing the Uruguay international this summer.

It has been reported that Newcastle are offering €15 million (£10.71m) for Rolan, with the French club open to selling him due to their financial problems.

Would Diego Rolan be a good signing for Newcastle United?

Rolan has been on the books of Bordeaux since 2013 and is one of the most important players for the team.

The youngster scored 15 goals and created 32 chances in 36 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

The 22-year-old had a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 48%, and won 23 headers, 28 dribbles and 29 tackles.

During the 2013-14 campaign, Rolan scored two goals and created 15 chances in 18 league matches for Bordeaux.

Rolan could be a good signing if he has a proper pre-season with Newcastle, which means that the Premier League club need to secure his services quickly.
