Report: Lazio prepared to offer Liverpool long-term target Balde Keita in exchange for Fabio Borini

SS Lazio fans

The young Spaniard has long been on Brendan Rodgers' wishlist.

Liverpool are reportedly willing to let Italian forward Fabio Borini leave the club for Lazio, but they want long-term target Balde Keita in exchange – according to reports in Italy today.

La Repubblica are reporting that Liverpool are hoping to finally secure the signature of the Spanish youngster this summer, as Lazio are very keen on signing Borini.

The former Roma man has not settled at Liverpool and is all set for an exit. He has previous in the Italian capital and a move back to Italy may help his chances of a place in the Italian squad for next summer’s European Championships in France.

Yesterday saw Keita’s agent reveal he was open to a move, as reported by Football Italia, and Liverpool have previous with the former Barcelona youth product.

In September 2014 his agent, as reported by Sky Sports, claimed that Liverpool had made a £16 million bid for the player that had been rejected by the Biancocelesti.

Would Keita be an improvement?

It is fair to say that so far the career of Keita has been tumultuous. He was released from Barcelona for disciplinary problems and last term was not his best. He played 28 times for Lazio but scored just two goals for the club. Hardly prolific, even for a 20-year-old.

That being said, it is clear that Borini is not up to the standard Liverpool want of him. With Il Tempo reporting that a bid of €2 million (£1.7 million) and Keita could be lodged for Borini, it is a no brainer to accept such an offer.
