Report: Alan Pardew targeting Alex McCarthy after being priced out of Tim Krul

Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and Swansea City are all reportedly interested in QPR goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

Crystal Palace are interested in signing Alex McCarthy from Queens Park Rangers this summer, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that that Palace manager Alan Pardew initially wanted to sign Tim Krul, but the Newcastle United goalkeeper is too expensive.

It has been reported by The Sun that QPR will allow McCarthy to leave if Robert Green, who has been linked with Chelsea and Sunderland, signs a new contract.

HITC Sport reported earlier this summer that Premier League trio West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and Swansea City are interested in the 25-year-old.

Alex McCarthy’s struggles

McCarthy moved to QPR from Reading in the summer of 2014, but he endured a largely frustrating season.

Not only did Rangers go straight back down to the Championship, but the 25-year-old also struggled to play regularly.

McCarthy could make just three appearances in the Premier League last season, making an average of 2.67 saves per game and 1.33 saves per goal.
