Photo: Liverpool new-boy James Milner in Leeds colors aged just 16

The Leeds Twitter account have been reminiscing about the club's youth players of 13 years ago, retweeting the following picture.

James Milner has won plenty of trophies in his career and it's something Liverpool fans will no doubt hope he brings to Anfield having joined the Reds on a free transfer this summer.

And so successful was Milner in his younger years that he was even winning youth trophies with Leeds United aged just 16.

It didn't take the midfielder long thereafter to make his Premier League debut but, in 2002, he was a winner at the Milk Cup. The Leeds academy still produce talents by the dozen, with Liverpool even linked with some of their youngsters last season, according to the Daily Mirror.

For now, though, the Reds will have to settle for one of Leeds' former young talents, who moves to Anfield as a Premier League winner.

How quickly time flies. In another 13 years, we might be looking back at a picture of Sam Byram, Lewis Cook or Alex Mowatt. They are firmly still Leeds players, of course, and could have big seasons ahead of them, despite Byram's link (as per the Daily Mail) with a move to the Blue side of the Mersey.
