A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from the Guardian, Manchester United are preparing to make an improved offer for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The French international was allegedly the subject of a £20million bid from Louis van Gaal’s side earlier this summer, but with that rejected United are said to be keen to conclude a deal before they travel to America for their pre-season tour.

The report goes on to claim that van Gaal wants to sign a new right-back, at least one new midfielder and a striker if Robin van Persie leaves this summer.

Schneiderlin would certainly solve one of those problems, but he will not come cheap, if at all.

In other news, the Guardian also reports that van Persie is indeed close to a summer exit, with his agent allegedly in Turkey to discuss a potential move to Fenerbahce.

The report claims the Dutchman’s representative has been in Istanbul for two days and that the United striker has already agreed personal terms with the club.

If he does move on that would leave United with just Wayne Rooney, James Wilson, Javier Hernandez and Angelo Henriquez, with doubts remaining about the long-term futures of the latter two players.
