Everton's new signing has been speaking about returning to Merseyside.
The Spanish winger agreed a permanent deal with Everton earlier this summer, having previously enjoyed a very effective loan spell the season before last.
Deulofeu returned to Barcelona hoping to make it at the Nou Camp but after a disappointing loan stint at La Liga rivals Sevilla he opted for a long-term reunion with his former Everton teammates.
Now the 21-year-old has explained that he wanted his return to catch people by surprise, even the players.
“I wanted to give everyone a surprise even though the papers have been putting out rumours for quite a while,” Deulofeu told evertonfc.com. “I haven’t spoken to Seamus (Coleman) and I said to Joel (Robles) that coming back was an option, but I wanted to keep it a surprise for everybody.”
Well surprise or not there is no doubt Everton have secured a wonderfully talented footballer for a knock-down price.
Bringing the Spanish international to England for £4.3million was impressive business on the part of Everton manager Roberto Martinez and the player will now be hoping to replicate the form that saw him impress last time out with the club.
Given his talent, it would be a surprise if he did not.
