The former Manchester City and Doncaster Rovers defender has been handed a trial at Scottish Championship outfit Rangers, as reported by The Daily Record.
Ferguson played with Wabara at Blackpool in 2013, and the former has spoken highly of the 23-year-old.
“He arrived at Blackpool on loan from Manchester City and is a fit boy and a physical specimen,” Ferguson wrote in The Daily Record. “He didn’t play often but that was due to niggling injuries.
“He’s a right-back to bombs up and down the touchline. He had a decent apprenticeship at a huge club so he knows the game and is more than capable of doing a job for Rangers.”
Who is Reece Wabara?
Wabara started his career at Premier League giants Manchester City, as he came through their youth system.
However, the defender failed to break into the Citizens’ first team and managed to play just once in the Premier League.
During his time at City, Wabara played on loan for Ipswich Town, Oldham Athletic, Blackpool and Doncaster Rovers.
The Englishman joined Doncaster on a permanent contract in the summer of 2014 and gave a account of himself at right-back for the Yorkshire outfit last season.
Rangers will be aiming for automatic promotion to the Scottish Premiership from the Scottish Championship next season.
