As Jonas Gutierrez turned 32 on Sunday afternoon, he received a little more than your standard 'happy birthday' from Newcaste forward Ayoze Perez.
Indeed, while the Spaniard did indeed wish Gutierrez a happy birthday, he also thanked him for everything the Argentine has taught him, suggesting he is an example to both Perez and the rest of the Newcastle squad.
A heart-warming message indeed, considering everything Gutierrez has been through recently. To battle cancer and make a return to professional football, with the Magpies midfielder scoring in the crucial game that kept his side in the Premier League last season - we may never see a story every quite like it again.
And at least the players at St James' Park can appreciate how heroic the 32-year-old's efforts were, unlike those who told him he was released from the club via telephone.
Wherever Gutierrez goes next, he'll no doubt be delighted to acknowledge the likes of Perez are still fully behind him. His legacy on Tyneside, too, will live on, as he clearly had a big influence on the younger players during his time at Newcastle.
