The Evian defender's future looks complicated.
Reported Celtic target Jonathan Mensah has been discussing his future this week, as he continues a four month suspension from football.
The Ghanaian is quoted by Ghana Web as stating:
“There might be a possibility that I might move to a different club.
“I want to progress in my career and we are working on something so hopefully things will go well.
“I don’t think this situation will hamper any move because like I said, teams know what I can do.”
Celtic are of course believed to be one team linked with the Evian Thonon defender. They were linked with a move for the player back in April by the Daily Record as a potential replacement for Manchester City loanee Jason Denayer.
That deal however appeared to be on the back burner after he received a four month suspension for illegally signing for Evian from Udinese four years ago.
But it certainly sounds like he is still hopeful of a move.
Should Celtic swoop?
Mensah has undoubted quality. The strong defender has 46 caps for Ghana already but is still only 24-years-old, so he is a great prospect.
However Celtic have already swooped to bring in Dedryck Boyata from Manchester City so have replaced Denayer already.
That being said there is still real doubt over Virgil van Dijk’s future at the club. If the Dutch player was to leave having Mensah on board would be a massive boost to Ronny Deila, despite his current ban.
