Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing Mamadou Doucoure.

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Mamadou Doucoure this summer, according to L’Equipe.

It has been reported by the French sports newspaper that Dutch club NAC Breda are also interested in Doucoure.

Who is Mamadou Doucoure?

Doucoure is a 22-year-old striker who has played at all youth levels for France. He is a free agent at the moment, having left Atletico Madrid in January after two and a half years in the Spanish capital.

The youngster developed at Lens, but he did not manage to make the cut at Spanish side Atletico.

The striker trained with Paris Saint-Germain’s reserve team from May till June, as reported by L’Equipe.

Should Nottingham Forest sign Mamadou Doucoure?

Ideally no, but the problem is that due to the transfer embargo, Forest will have to find such relatively unknown players who will not cost any transfer fee.

The fact that Atletico let Doucoure leave and that he has not found a club will be a concern, and so will be the fact that he is 22 and has yet to establish himself.

It will be a gamble if Forest manager Dougie Freedman signs the Frenchman, but perhaps he has been advised by his scouts that Doucoure could prove to be a good signing.
