Report: Chelsea close to signing 17-year-old Jamaican wonderkid Leon Bailey from AS Trencin

The Blues are said to be keen on the player, along with Ajax.

Chelsea are reportedly set to make a move for Jamaican talent Leon Bailey, currently plying his trade with Slovakian champions AS Trencin, according to Pro Sport.

The report states Chelsea want to make a move for the player and then send him out on loan to recently agreed new farm club Royal Mouscron in Belgium.

Bailey is also being linked with a move for Ajax but Chelsea are said to be in pole position for the 17-year-old Jamaican.

The report claims that Chelsea will be scouting the player in Trencin’s upcoming Champions League qualifying matches against Romanian outfit Steaua Bucharest.

It is not the first time Chelsea have tried to sign him. When Bailey first headed to Slovakia in March from Phoenix All Stars the president of Trencin, Robert Rybnicek, was quoted as saying this by Tribal Football:

"Bailey was emphatically followed by notably Ajax and Chelsea, both of which offered him a contract.

"This interest confirms his talent.

"We believe that he will continue to grow at AS Trencin."

Chelsea of course have a magnificent record for bringing in young players in recent times from around the globe. From Burkina Faso to Croatia, Chelsea are number one for global recruits in world football.

They often send them out on loan, which of course is what would happen to Bailey should he arrive at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea fans will certainly be hoping to see this talented boy make a move to London.
