Newcastle United players have started preparing for the 2015-16 campaign, as they returned to pre-season training this week.
The Magpies endured a disappointing 2014-15 season, and they will be looking to give a much better account of themselves next term.
One of the players who will be looking to impress in pre-season over the next few weeks is Shane Ferguson.
The 23-year-old is a versatile player who can feature as a left-back as well as a left-winger.
The Northern Ireland international has been on the books of Newcastle since 2007, but he has yet to establish himself as an important player in the first team.
Ferguson was sent out on loan to Scottish Championship club Rangers in the January transfer window, but he failed to make his mark at Ibrox.
Injuries did play a role in the 23-year-old’s failure at Rangers, and he will be looking to forget that spell and make an impression on new Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren.
Ferguson has been training hard with the rest of the Newcastle squad over the past few days (as shown in the pictures above and to the right).
