Newcastle linked - but West Ham are bookies' favourites to sign Mario Balotelli

The Liverpool striker is only 3/1 to join West Ham. What a move that would be?

Mario Balotelli has plenty of opportunities for another career move despite his awful season at Liverpool, according to Sky Bet.

Indeed, the bookmakers rate the Italian's chances of a summer move to West Ham United as low as 3/1, with Newcastle United shortly behind at 8/1.

Balotelli had been linked with a loan move from Liverpool to Newcastle recently but the Chronicle have cited reports that a move will not happen.

AC Milan and Sampdoria are thus ranked above the Magpies in the running for the Reds striker - but the Hammers lead the way.

A strange move indeed

While West Ham need a new striker, going for another big-money forward who couldn't quite cut it at Liverpool (see Andy Carroll) wouldn't be the wisest of approaches.

Little has linked the east London club with a move for Balotelli, who arrived at Anfield last summer in a £16 million move (as per the BBC), but punters clearly haven't been put off. The Italian is 8/11 to stay with his current side but the chances are they will try as hard as they can to offload him.

If the 24-year-old plays and behaves anything like he did last term, however, both West Ham and Newcastle will rue ever being linked with him.
