Celtic's Leigh Griffiths makes it clear what he wants from his first pre-season game of the summer

Celtic Stands

The Celtic star wants to fill his boots and he has the perfect chance this weekend.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has taken to Twitter ahead of his first pre-season friendly of the summer against Dukla Prague this weekend.

The Bhoys have three games in quick succession as they prepare for their Champions League qualifying tie against Icelandic side Stjarnan later this month. And Celtic manager Ronny Deila will be using these matches to ascertain who should feature in the first of a number of huge games early in the club’s extended campaign.

Celtic will know the importance of reaching the group stages of next season’s Champions League, both in terms of how their campaign is judged and also as a huge bonus in enticing potential new players to the club.

Whatever the future holds in that regard, Griffiths is going to be vital again after scoring 20 goals in 41 matches last season, and he clearly cannot wait to get going once again.

Writing on the social media site on Saturday morning, the 24-year-old said, “Looking forward to being back out on the pitch today. Continue where I left last season hopefully.”

Griffiths netted nine goals in his last eight league games last season and today is the perfect opportunity for him to quickly get back into the scoring routine.
