Messi, who captain’s Gerardo Martino’s men, has stated that the current crop of Argentina internationals are desperate to win a title as a collective and put their names in the history books.

"As a team, we deserve to win something and it would mean so much after the World Cup where we came so close."
Argentina were beaten in the final of the World Cup last year by Germany, with Messi failing to inspire his team to the sport’s biggest crown.

Messi will be central to his country’s chances of winning the Copa America, with the Barcelona forward’s link-up play with Angel Di Maria, Javier Pastore and Sergio Aguero critical.
