Aston Villa reportedly interested in Turkish teenager Ogulcan Caglayan

Aston Villa could be keen on adding another talented youngster to their ranks according to reports.

According to the Mirror, Aston Villa are interested in signing young Turkish striker Ogulcan Caglayan from Kayseri Erciyesspor this summer.

The 19-year-old did well considering his age in the Super Lig last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 22 appearances in total and three goals in 11 games following a winter move from Gaziantepspor.

Despite only recently swapping clubs, the Mirror claims his current side’s relegation could see Caglayan move on again, and Villa are hoping to do a deal.

The report claims Villa manager Tim Sherwood has been tracking the talented teenager and that he could now make a move, and while he would be one predominantly for the future he has already proved he can make an impact in senior league football.

Although predominantly a striker, Caglayan can also play on either wing if required and that versatility will stand him in good stead if he does move on.

He may not be the high-profile name Villa fans are hoping for, but if he continues to develop at this rate the Turkish under-19 international could have a very bright future in the game.

Sherwood has proved adept at working with young players in the past and Villa could be the best option for Caglayan if his club is willing to do business so soon after acquiring him.
