A selection of the best transfer stories from Arsenal today.
Arsenal are said to be in the hunt for Barcelona forward Pedro, according to The Telegraph.
They claim, based on reports in Spain, that Pedro is not necessarily wanted at Barca, despite signing a new contract with the club in June.
Pedro has struggled for regular football at Barcelona under new boss Luis Enrique, which has seen him linked with a move. The emergence of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar as the club’s front-three has also left him out of the picture.
However, he has a £110 million buy-out clause, so would likely be a costly transfer. Arsenal though successfully negotiated with Barca last summer for the signing of Alexis Sanchez, so will have hope of doing the same.
Eduardo Vargas’ agent has cooled talk of an apparent move to Arsenal this summer.
The Napoli forward, who spent last season on loan at QPR, has been in great form at this summer’s Copa America which has seen him linked with a move to join his team-mate Alexis at The Emirates.
But his agent Christian Olgade has dismissed reports, telling Radio Kiss Kiss:
"Arsenal? I do not have any information about that. I know just that every year during the same period, all the world asks about Vargas.
"He scored many goals with the national team, is the top scorer of the Copa America, I imagine that many clubs will soon be interested in acquiring its sports performance [sic]."
Sparta Prague would like to bring Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky back to the club. The Czech Republic icon, who only recently signed a new deal to remain with The Gunners, has been linked by Sparta shareholder Daniel Kretinsky – who is quoted as telling Aktualne in his homeland:
“I’d love him to come and for it to happen soon, but I don’t want to put uncomfortable pressure on Tomas. It’s up to him, I understand that leaving Arsenal isn’t easy."
