West Ham United transfer round-up: Offer for defender rejected, playmaker linked

The latest selection of news concerning West Ham United.

According to L’Equipe, West Ham have had a bid for Aymen Abdennour rejected.

The Monaco defender has long been linked with the Hammers, and it is claimed that their £14.2 million offer for the Tunisian centre-back is not enough to prise him away from Ligue 1.

The Hammers will have to return with a much larger bid if they intend to bring the defender to the Boleyn Ground, amid interest in Abdennour from a number of other clubs.

West Ham have also been linked with making a move for Manuel Lanzini, according to the Daily Mirror.

The former River Plate attacking midfielder currently turns out for Al Jazira Club in UAE, and is wanted by Slaven Bilic to bring more attacking threat to a side.

It is believed that he has been approached concerning a loan deal for the season, with an option to buy at the end of the campaign.

West Ham have seen a Premier League rival make a move for one of the their transfer targets, with Leicester submitting an offer for Charlie Austin.

According to BBC Sport, the Foxes made a £12 million bid for Austin, which was rejected, giving the Hammers some ballpark of the fee they will have to submit if they intend to bring the English forward to East London this summer.
