The 'Iraqi Gareth Bale' had been linked with a move to Watford on loan.

Udinese’s latest signing Ali Adnan has seemingly indicated he will be staying with Udinese this season, rather than heading out on loan to Watford or Granada as rumoured.

The Iraqi international was speaking at his official presentation as a Udinese player today and he sounded like a man ready for a season in Serie A, rather than La Liga or the Premier League.

Tutto Mercato Web report him as stating:

“The Italian league is very important and Udinese is a club of leading internationals. I'm really happy to be here and to be part of Udinese. I'm lucky to be the first Iraqi in the Italian league.

"I know I am the first Iraqi in Italy and for this I will put all of me to represent my country well and I hope to do great things for this club.

“I'm very happy to have arrived at Udinese."

Known as the 'Iraqi Gareth Bale’, Adnan was previously with Caykur Rizespor in Turkey. The Iraqi international, who has 34 caps for his country was recently reported by the Watford Observer to head out on loan from Udinese, after his deal to join the Serie A club was finalised.

Should Watford be disappointed?

Yes and no. Adnan is a great player but yesterday The Hornets completed a deal with AS Roma to sign Greek international Jose Holebas. With Miguel Layun, Daniel Pudil and Ikechi Anya all at the club and capable of playing left-back or left wing-back Adnan is probably not going to be greatly missed.

However, Watford fans should certainly keep tabs on his improvement in Italy, as one day he might just be gracing Vicarage Road.
