Uwe Rosler has highlighted the importance of Leeds United defender Bamba.
Bamba spent part of last season on loan at Leeds, before signing a permanent deal this summer, and Rosler has told the official Leeds website that he can become the leader of the team.
The head coach said: “Sol was very important. He has fantastic attributes that are very important for this league. I also think he can be a leader in the group because it’s natural to him. He can unify the dressing room. That’s very important.”
This is high praise by Rosler, although not a surprise, with many hoping to see Bamba named captain of the Whites for the 2015/16 season.
Despite only being signed on loan for half of last season, and making just 19 appearances, Bamba proved his reputation as the best defender in the Leeds ranks, and real captain material.
He wore the armband 10 times during the last campaign, despite only being a loan player, and the Ivorian international is clearly a big part of Rosler’s plans. He has Championship experience which is currently lacking in the Leeds squad, and is the best choice to skipper the team next season.
Rosler would be making a wise move in giving the armband to Bamba, and following his recent comments, that looks like an extremely likely occurrence.
