Nicolas Anelka has taken the next step in his footballing career today, being named player-manager of Mumbai City FC.
It is Anelka’s 13th move of his career, with high profile clubs such as PSG, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all utilising his services at various points of his career.
His most recent spell in the Premier League was with West Brom, with whom he scored two goals in 12 appearances.
Anelka is one of the true modern day journeymen, and probably the most high profile journeyman in recent history.
Whereas many journeymen spend their careers in the lower leagues, Anelka built a top level career with teams winning trophies. and although he did play for some surprise choices - the likes of Bolton and Shanghai are strange - but he is a multiple Premier League winner, a Champions League winner, and was part of France’s Euro 2000 winning squad.
