Report: Watford have joint bid accepted for Tottenham’s Etienne Capoue and Benjamin Stambouli

Watford look set to complete a double deal for the Tottenham pair.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Watford look to have wrapped up a deal for both Etienne Capoue and Benjamin Stambouli, with a £10 million double bid accepted by Tottenham.

A move for Capoue looks to have been on the cards for a while, and he is said to be undergoing his medical with the Hornets today, but the accepted bid for Stambouli was previously unknown.

Whilst Capoue appears keen to complete a switch to Vicarage Road, there is no indication as to whether Stambouli will follow suit, although as both bids have been announced at the same time, it could be that both midfielders are progressing through their medicals at the same time.

Both players are keen to test themselves in the Premier League, having yet to prove their ability in England, following Capoue’s arrival in 2013 and Stambouli’s last summer.

Both French midfielders, Capoue and Stambouli play in a similar style, with the ball-winning role being their most natural position. Both are tenacious tacklers and impressive passers, whilst Stambouli has also shown an adeptness at playing a box-to-box role if needed.

Should these deals be wrapped up in the coming days, Watford will be adding the two midfielders to an already impressive list of summer signings.

Sebastian Prodl, Giedrius Arlauskis and Jose Holebas have already been signed, whilst talks are ongoing with Allan Nyom, Gokhan Inler and Miguel Britos.
