New boss Carlos Carvalhal is looking to his homeland for summer recruits.
Sheffield Wednesday are being linked with a double swoop on the Portuguese Primeira Liga after the appointment of Carlos Carvalhal as head coach.
Portuguese site Record believes that the Portuguese head coach at Hillsborough is all set to make a move on two players from his homeland in the coming weeks.
Pereira is a Portugal under-21 international who can play on the right wing or will in as an attacking full-back on either side. He has been at Porto since 2013 having previously come to the fore at Vitoria Guimares. He played in four games at this summer’s European Under 21-Championship’s in which Portugal made it to the final. He scored in the competition, netting the second goal in a 5-0 win over Germany in the semi-final.
Goncalves is also an under-21 international. He has five caps at that level but did not participate in this summer’s tournament. He did however play 26 times in the top-flight for Gil Vicente last season.
Both players would undoubtedly add some real quality to the Sheffield Wednesday camp and Owls fans will hope that Carvalhal can facilitate their arrivals.
