As per the latest reports in the French publication RMC told by Maxifoot, Lille midfielder Idrissa Gueye has agreed a four-year contract with Aston Villa and has passed a medical at the club.
The Senegalese international experienced an excellent campaign at Lille last season, attracting plenty of interest with a number of top performances.
The Premier League trio, however, appear to have been beaten to the punch as fresh reports claim the midfielder has ignored his fellow suitors and instead agreed a move to Aston Villa.
"Idrissa Gueye flew to England to negotiate the terms of his contract with Aston Villa. As per reports from RMC, the Lille midfielder has agreeda four-year contract and passed his medical," Maxifoot states.
What will Idrissa Gueye add to Aston Villa?
The 25-year-old will add a physical presence which is currently lacking in that Villa midfield, allowing skipper Fabian Delph to push further forward and wreak havoc in the final third.
A solid protector of the back four, Gueye averaged an impressive 3.1 tackles and 2.8 interceptions per French top-flight encounter last season.
With so many teams credited with holding an interest in his services, the Lille man would represent a real coup for Villa and he could prove to be Tim Sherwood’s best buy of the summer.
