As per the latest reports in the Spanish publication AS, Real Madrid youngster Sergio Molina is currently undergoing a medical at Stoke City ahead of a move to the Potters.
The 19-year-old defensive midfielder came through the Madrid youth ranks and is widely recognised as one of the club’s most promising young stars.
Last season, he captained the Juvenile A side and recently played in the Spanish Youth Cup final where his side were downed 2-1 by an impressive Sevilla team.
Stoke’s interest largely stems from their recent success in the Spanish market, bringing in former Barcelona duo Bojan Krkic and Marc Muniesa to the surprise of many.
As per the reports from Spain, Molina is expected to join his Spanish compatriots imminently after flying to the Midlands to undergo a medical at the Britannia Stadium.
Will Stoke fans see Sergio Molina this season?
Despite his evident talent, Stoke are pretty solid in the centre of midfield and should Steven N’Zonzi remain at the club, the Frenchman will undoubtedly be the club’s first-choice defensive midfielder.
That said, boss Mark Hughes isn’t shy in bringing through youth players and at 19, Molina is experienced enough to at least take part in the first few rounds of the League Cup.
The promising youngster netted twice in six UEFA Youth League matches last season, and walking away from Madrid for Stoke further enhances the club’s reputation as an established top-flight side.
