The Spaniard would be Monk's first ever from that country as manager of Swansea.
The Swans, who have already snapped up the likes of Andre Ayew and Franck Tabanou from Ligue 1 this summer and Eder from Braga, but Garry Monk is seemingly looking closer to home with the Championship star.
Jota arrived at Brentford last summer. The 24-year-old arrived from Celta Vigo after a successful loan spell at Eibar and has had an excellent season at Griffin Park.
He played 46 times for the club, scoring 11 goals, but it was his passing and technical prowess that truly caught the eye.
He would certainly slot in perfectly to the Swansea side and would be a popular signing.
Swansea once snapped up Spaniard’s for fun. Michu, Pablo Hernandez, Jose Canas, Chico Flores; but recently the Spanish band of brothers have been split up at Swansea.
They have not signed a Spaniard since Alvaro Vazquez in September 2013 and Monk himself has not signed a single Spanish player, instead seemingly trying to break that mould.
Currently, not including the seemingly departing Michu, only Angel Rangel and Jordi Amat remain.
Jota however could become the third and Monk’s first since becoming Swans boss.
