Report: Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal face competition for Baba Rahman

The Augsburg defender is reported to have attracted interest from a number of sides across Europe.

Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City will face competition for Augsburg defender Baba Rahman, according to The Guardian.

The 21-year-old left-back enjoyed an impressive season in the Bundesliga last year as he helped his side to finish fifth, the highest league finish in their history.

Those efforts are said to have attracted the interest of the English clubs, who could all do with adding quality in that particular position, but have been told the player could cost as much as £14 million if they want to sign him.

In fact, it seems they are not the only teams interested in his signature with Serie A trio Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan, as well as La Liga side Atletico Madrid, all being credited with having made enquiries by The Guardian.

Manchester City a more likely destination

Of the three Premier League sides, it is probably Manchester City that are most in need of strengthening the left-back position.

Both Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy have failed to impress in that position, and indeed the Serbian looks set for a return to Italy at some point - per the Mirror. At the same time, neither are getting any younger and Rahman would be an ideal long-term replacement.

Chelsea and Arsenal are not in as desperate need to buy in that position, although if the Blues were to sell Filipe Luis, which has been mooted in the Express, then they would need to bring someone in as his replacement.
