Report: Bolton Wanderers close to signing Nottingham Forest target Derik as Matt Mills replacement

The Trotters are in advanced talks with the Real Madrid defender.

According to The Bolton News Real Madrid defender Derik Osede looks set to be on his way to Bolton Wanderers.

The report claims that Neil Lennon has watched the 22-year-old Spanish Under-21 international playing for Real Madrid’s Castilla team and that a deal seems to be on the verge of completion.

Interestingly, Nottingham Forest were also keen on the player, but he is being signed as a replacement for a man who recently went to the City Ground.

Forest were linked with a move for Derik in May by The Daily Mail. Watford, Southampton and Wolves were also said to be keen.

They recently signed Matt Mills on a free transfer from Bolton, linking up with his former boss Dougie Freedman with The Reds. Now it seems his replacement at The Macron Stadium will be a fellow Forest target.

Bolton will seemingly be getting the talent on a free transfer. He is out of contract after his contract expired at the beginning of the month and would be a bargain buy for Bolton.

Following in footsteps?

Bolton have a good track record when it comes to bringing in players from Real Madrid. Ivan Campo is still a cult legend around the club whilst they also brought in Fernando Hierro for a season back in 2004-05.

Bolton fans will hope Derik becomes another name they remember for the right reasons after such a switch.
