Report: Aston Villa pursue Anderlecht playmaker Dennis Praet, Sherwood prepares £7m bid

Aston Villa are reportedly chasing Anderlecht playmaker Dennis Praet.

According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa have made an enquiry about Anderlecht playmaker Dennis Praet - with manager Tim Sherwood looking to lodge a £7m bid.

Sherwood has made one summer signing in defender Micah Richards on a free transfer, and now it seems that he is turning his attention to other areas of his side.

The Telegraph believe that Villa have now made an enquiry over the possibility of signing Belgian international playmaker Praet this summer.

The 21-year-old joined Anderlecht from Genk in 2010, and having emerged as a teenager with the Belgian giants, Praet is now a coveted playmaker who has already earned his first cap for the Belgian national team, despite the embarrassment of attacking riches at Marc Wilmots' disposal.

The Telegraph report that, with Sherwood looking for attacking reinforcements, he is now to lodge a £7m bid for Praet in a bid to lure him to Villa Park this summer.

What would Praet bring to Aston Villa?

Praet is a talented, skilful playmaker with impressive dribbling ability and technique in possession, working effectively as a central attacking midfielder.

Sherwood used a 4-4-2 diamond towards the end of last season, and whilst Jack Grealish featured in that No. 10 role, Praet would provide another creative option for Sherwood to use.

It would certainly be a coup for Villa to land Praet, but with money to spend this summer, Sherwood could build an exciting side ahead of the new Premier League season.
