As per Sky Sports, Liverpool have taken advantage of a red tape dispute to complete the signing of former Barcelona youth star Bobby Adekanye.
The Nigerian youngster was previously on the books the Catalan giants after joining the club from Ajax in 2011, a deal which was later disputed and labelled illegal by FIFA.
As such, the player was banned from playing competitive football at the Nou Camp and subsequently spent last season on loan at Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven.
The Eredivisie giants were reported to be keen on retaining him permanently, yet it was Liverpool who decided to pursue a deal, bringing him to Anfield and ultimately persuading him of a move to Merseyside.
“I am very happy to sign for Liverpool,” he wrote on Instagram of his announcement, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Now the 16-year-old has taken another photo on social media, one all Liverpool supporters will be delighted to see as he is snapped donning the Reds’ shirt.
Still extremely young, supporters won’t get to see much of him in the first-team for at least another couple of years but the potential is there for Adekanye to become a top player for the club.
Compared to Bayern Munich superstar Arjen Robben, the Dutch youth international will be hoping his choice to cut ties with Barcelona and move to Merseyside proves to be a wise decision.
