A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Aston Villa from the past 24 hours...

Villa are reportedly chasing Belgian international Dennis Praet with the Telegraph claiming a £7 million bid has been launched.

The Anderlect midfielder is highly regarded and has attracted interest from Everton and Southampton but manager Tim Sherwood will be hoping his hastiness wins the day.

Fresh off signing a new five-year deal, Everton left-back Luke Garbutt is looking for loan move and the Liverpool Echo have listed Villa amongst the interest parties.

Bournemouth were thought to be leading the chase but the arrival of Tyrone Mings has put an end to their interest, leaving Villa with a great chance.

RMC Sport claim Lille midfielder Idrissa Gueye is set to travel to Birmingham in the next few days to hold contract talks with the Villains.

The clubs are believed to have agreed a £9 million fee and and Tim Sherwood will be hopeful of wrapping up a deal sooner rather than later.

Finally, in less positive news, rumoured Villa target George Friend but a dampener on any prospect of a move by committing his future to Middlesbrough.

Speaking to the Northern Echo, the promising defender said the interest was flattering but insisted he’s going nowhere.

“I’m very happy at Boro and I'm ready to start again on Monday for another successful season,” said Friend.
