Liverpool starlet Wade Maxwell set for Barnsley move

HITC Sport understands Liverpool youngster Wade Maxwell is poised to join Barnsley.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the potential deal that Liverpool starlet Wade Maxwell is set to leave Anfield to join League One Barnsley.

Maxwell has come through the ranks at Liverpool and has been at the club since the age of 10.

The 17-year-old was a regular in the Under-18 squad last season and was also involved in the UEFA Youth League.

Maxwell is highly-regarded at Liverpool, but he is ready to move on as he is unlikely to make the breakthrough into the Reds’ first-team any time soon.

A number of clubs are thought to have shown an interest in Maxwell, but Barnsley have moved quickly to try and secure a deal for the teenager.

Barnsley boss Lee Johnson is keen to bolster his attacking options and he sees potential in Maxwell to work his way up the ranks at Oakwell and break into the senior side next season

Johnson is keen to reshape his squad at Barnsley after releasing seven players at the end of last season as he looks to mount a bid for promotion next term.
