How Chris Wood's comments can help attract Leeds United's next big signing

The Leeds striker's early words after moving to Elland Road were music to supporters' ears.

Chris Wood was full of praise for Leeds United after securing his move to Elland Road on Wednesday.

Indeed, not only did the New Zealander praise Leeds as a whole, he described the club's Italian owner Massimo Cellino as 'brilliant' and also heaped praise on Uwe Rosler and Adam Pearson.

And, in so doing, Wood has dismissed any myths that may have been troubling potential targets.

Last season was no myth, of course, as chaos reigned under Cellino. But the 23-year-old striker has sent a rather public message out that this is a new Leeds. Under the Italian, Pearson and Rosler, Wood says, United are a club on the up - moving away from the kind of scenes that plagued the club's reputation last term.

Now, players may look at the Whites and be encouraged. If Wood was prepared to move to Leeds over other Championship sides after taking a look behind the scenes, it can't be so badly run, can it?

This could even be the removal of any potential target's biggest stumbling block. The wages are good at Leeds, the football of a good Championship standard, too. The fanbase, meanwhile, is what every player dreams of.

Holding any new signing back, however, would be what they saw happening at boardroom level last campaign. And Wood said as much himself. Now, though, his comments may be of reassurance to other players out there - and they may just help Leeds to no end when securing their next big signing.
