Crystal Palace's Jack Hunt set for Sheffield Wednesday loan

HITC Sport understands Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on the loan signing of Crystal Palace defender Jack Hunt.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Crystal Palace defender Jack Hunt is poised to join Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan deal.

Hunt has yet to make his debut for Crystal Palace since joining the club in September 2013, with the defender suffering a broken ankle soon after his arrival which ruled him out for four months.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a spell on loan at Barnsley in January 2014 to work his way back to full fitness, making 11 appearances at Oakwell.

The attacking full-back joined Nottingham Forest on loan last summer and Forest were keen to make the move permanent, but were unable to agree a deal with Palace.

Hunt then joined Rotherham United on loan last January and helped the club to secure survival in the Championship.

A number of clubs have been tracking Hunt following his impressive loan spells at Forest and Rotherham, but Wednesday have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a loan deal with Palace for the former Huddersfield Town star.

Hunt is currently undergoing a medical at Hillsborough and he is set to become Carlos Carvalhal's first signing since taking charge this summer, with defenders Darryl Lachman and Vincent Sasso arriving before the appointment of the Portuguese coach.
