Sevilla reportedly in talks with Konoplyanka again, as his future remains unresolved

After links and negotiations with various Premier League and La Liga clubs, Yevhen Konoplyanka is reportedly back in talks with Sevilla.

According to Estadio Deportivo, talks between Sevilla and Yevhen Konoplyanka are now back on, after it seemed they were dead and buried.

Just a few weeks ago, it seemed almost certain Konoplyanka was destined to sign for La Liga side Sevilla, after facing them in the Europa League final with Dnipro.

The Spanish club were confident of securing the deal, the father of the player suggested Sevilla was the preferred destination. Everything seemed practically done and dusted.

Always linked with Premier League interest, Stoke City have remained keen, even if they're arguably the least fancied destination of the player, because they're not playing in Europe.

Liverpool had almost signed Konoplyanka in January, only for the deal to collapse at the last minute, with the Dnipro owner throwing a spanner into the works. They have repeatedly been linked with a move for the player this summer.

As recently as last week, there were even reports claiming the 25-year-old had a medical with Tottenham, which was later rubbished by the Konoplyanka camp.

What is clear is that during the last week, the player and his father have been in Spain. First in the capital and holding talks with Atletico Madrid, albeit and unsurprisingly, with no final resolution.

After taking a break for a couple of days in Valencia, the player has now in Sevilla and as per the reports from Estadio Deportivo, once more negotiating with the Europa League winners.

Whether this is the final chapter in this particular transfer saga, remains to be seen. Especially after Sevilla sporting director Monchi effectively killed any chances of a deal being struck, after admitting a loss of patience just a few days ago.

Unless there's an official announcement from Sevilla in the coming hours or days, then the case of Konoplyanka and his eventual destination, may yet drag on even longer.
