According to reports by the Daily Mail, West Ham are expected to give a trial to AFC Wimbledon striker Daniel Agyei.
The 17-year-old scored 29 goals for his side's under-18s last season and will be given the opportunity to prove his worth with the Hammers, as preparations continue for the future.
West Ham have been monitoring his progress for some time now, with reports in the Daily Mail linking the London outfit with a move for the promising striker earlier in the season. The same speculation also made reference to interest from city rivals Chelsea and Fulham.
Agyei all but confirmed the report, via Twitter, when he vetoed the opportunity to deny that he was indeed having a trial. Instead, he was more focused on correcting the goal tallies that have been circulating around the national press.
The move to the Olympic Stadium will mark a new era for the Hammers, and evidently the club are looking to kick-off in the right manner.
Still only a teenager, Agyei’s goal scoring record – be it below senior level – speaks for itself. The Hammers appear to have jumped in ahead of their London rivals in this case, and providing all goes well, the club will have a player with tremendous potential at their disposal.
