Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Mario Suarez has a release clause of just £8.5 million in his contract, report Spanish newspaper Marca.
Suarez is a Spanish international who won his most recent cap in March, and played 20 La Liga games for Atletico Madrid last season.
The price makes Suarez far more affordable than Giannelli Imbula or Geoffrey Kondogbia who Spurs missed out on to Inter and Porto.
Suarez would be a quality and experienced replacement for Paulinho, who was sold to Guangzhao Evergrande for £9.9 million.
Tottenham are well placed to take advantage of Suarez's release clause, with The Times reporting chairman Daniel Levy is due to fly to Spain to begin negotiations with Atletico over Toby Alderweireld.
If their interest in Suarez is genuine, as are Marca's reports over his £8.5 million release clause, it would not be a surprise at all to see him taking Paulinho's old number eight shirt at Spurs next season, with or without Alderweireld.
