Report: Deportivo La Coruna in touch over Swansea City's forgotten hero Michu

Deportivo Riazor

The Spanish international is wanted back in his homeland.

Deportivo La Coruna are said to be in the running for forgotten Swansea City star Michu.

It is reported in the Spanish press that the La Liga side are keen on snapping up the Spaniard from South Wales. Diario AS state that Depor are hopeful of bringing him to the Riazor, although do have a battle meeting his apparent wage demands.

Michu was once a revelation at Swansea. A bargain buy in 2012 from Rayo Vallecano he was a superb hit at the Liberty Stadium in the 2012-13 campaign. He scored 22 goals in 43 appearances in his debut season with the club, and earned a cap for the Spanish national team, but his second season was less productive.

He suffered with injury problems throughout the campaign and scored just six goals in 24 games.

He was loaned out to Napoli last season but failed to score in five appearances and did not play after an ankle operation in October.

Swansea have already made improvements to their attacking area and with his contract expiring next summer they will certainly be looking to cash in on their forgotten hero now before losing him for free next summer.
