Report: Anderlecht looking to sign Stefano Okaka as replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic

Okaka has been linked with Leeds, but he could be helping Newcastle complete a transfer.

Sampdoria striker Okaka has become one of the most in-demands strikers of the summer transfer window, and a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport has linked him with making a move to Anderlecht.

The Belgian club want to sign him following an impressive season in Serie A. The 25-year-old netted four goals and registered three assists in 34 games, and managed to rebuild a reputation that was lagging after years of struggles.

A transfer seems to be on the cards, and Anderlecht are the latest team linked with making a move for the forward.

Already this summer he has been linked with Leeds United, according to SampNews24, which signals a real intent from the Whites. Considering the European football that Anderlecht have a move to them seems more likely, and Leeds’ loss could actually work in favour of one Premier League side.

Okaka is being targeted by the Belgian outfit as a replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is one of Newcastle United’s priority targets this summer. The Daily Mail reported on their interest, and the Gazzetta article claims that he will be sold if Okaka moves to Anderlecht.

Although Leeds may miss out on a target, it could work in favour for Newcastle, as they look to secure their first signing of the summer.
