Haris Vuckic's future is yet to be decided but that didn't stop the Newcastle forward enjoying his first training of pre-season with the St James' Park outfit.
The forward spent last season on loan at Rangers and has merely been a fringe player during his Newcastle career to date.
According to the Daily Mail, meanwhile, the 22-year-old is wanted by Rangers on a permanent deal after last campaign's loan spell, with Vuckic also wanting to return to the Scottish Championship side.
And the former Rangers loanee recently told Nogomania: "I really was quite disappointed [to leave]. Scots are great people and I have generally been very well received at the club. I really loved the club. I really wanted to remain part of the story."
"We'll see. At Newcastle, I have one year left on my contract. If they want to sell, now it is the last option, because in half a year, I can talk to other clubs. There is a lot of talk, but about what my future will bring, I know as much as you."
That all leaves Vuckic's future up in the air. Should he end up at Rangers, the quicker the move materialises the better, so the forward can link up with the Gers and take part in Mark Warburton's own pre-season training.
But at least, for now, the Slovenian can enjoy some Premier League preparations ahead of any potential Scottish Championship link-up. Would a Rangers return be best for all involved?
