Mick Quinn and Newcastle fans mock lack of signings on Twitter

Newcastle In Action

Newcastle United are yet to sign a single player this summer.

As hard as Newcastle try, it seems they can't shift the ridicule that follows them on social media.

Well, that's not strictly true in this case, for the St James' Park outfit are being criticised for their latest mishap of not trying hard enough.

Indeed, Newcastle are yet to sign a single player this summer, despite many of their Premier League rivals having already secured multiple new signings.

And former Newcastle man Mick Quinn was quick to sarcastically take to Twitter after Steve McClaren defended the Magpies' lack of recruitment.

Even if Quinn was asking a genuine question, the replies he retweeted suggested otherwise.

Indeed, supporters joined him in mocking Newcastle's lack of transfers - including their bizarre link with Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.

When Magpies owner Mike Ashley gave an interview with Sky Sports at the end of last season promising more transfer funds on Tyneside, few were genuinely convinced. But did anyone think Ashley would take even longer than usual to spend even less than usual?

So far, that's exactly what's happening at Newcastle in the transfer market this window...
