Deulofeu says he snubbed others teams to return to Everton

The Spaniard has signed on a permanent deal from Barcelona, after a successful loan spell in the 2013-14 season.

New Everton signing Gerard Deulofeu has told the club's supporters that there was little doubt of him going anywhere else but Goodison Park once he found out Roberto Martinez was interested in signing him Barcelona, in an interview with the Liverpool Echo.

The young Spaniard has returned to the Toffees one season after what was his breakthrough campaign on Merseyside, where he scored four goals in 29 appearances during a loan spell from Barca, and he said that the Everton support helped convince him to sign permanently this summer.

“Of course there were other options, but I always said right from the start that I wanted to come back to Everton," Deulofeu is quoted as saying by the Echo. "You can ask my agent and he will say the same.

“This is where I feel happy, this is where I feel like I am loved by the fans. The fans support me – they always send me messages, so this was where I wanted to come back to.”

Deulofeu could be one of the signings of the summer

Considering he was bought for just over £4 million according to the Mirror, there must be few better value for money purchases than the forward.

Everton have already established that he is a capable player in the Premier League, if a work in progress, but since he was at Goodison Park last summer, he has gotten a similar number of appearances for a similarly place side, as Sevilla finished 5th and won the Europa League.

Still just 21, Deulofeu has also already won a Spanish cap, and if he can develop just a little in the coming season, the Toffees could have a superstar on their hands.
