Alan Stubbs comments on signing Celtic’s Dylan McGeouch on a permanent deal

The Celtic midfielder spent last season on loan at Hibs.

McGeouch made just one appearance for Celtic last season before being shipped out on loan to Hibs, and manager Alan Stubbs has admitted to the Daily Record that he would be interested in signing him on a permanent deal should he become available.

Stubbs said: “Dylan is a Celtic player and we will continue to monitor that. If he was to become available I’m sure we would be interested.”

The 21-year-old made 26 appearances for Hibs, scoring three goals and registering three assists last term as the club secured a second place finish in the Championship. They fell in the play-offs to Rangers, but Hibs are expected to be up amongst the promotion candidates next term.

McGeouch would improve their chances immeasurably, and if chances at Celtic are not forthcoming under Ronny Deila it is likely he will look for a move away.

There are still no indications as to whether the Bhoys are looking to sell him, or even loan him out for the 2015/16 season, but Hibs will be at the front of the queue if he becomes available.

Able to play as a number 10, or on the wings, McGeouch’s position is well stocked at Parkhead, and it is likely the Scottish champions will look to get the youngster off their books this summer.

This opens the door for a return to Hibs, and they are sure to move for him if he becomes available this summer.
