The Italian pair are set to stay at Elland Road next season.
The agent of two of Leeds United’s Italian stars has been talking about their respective futures today, making it clear that both men want to remain with the club.
Silvio Pagliari, who represents both defender Giuseppe Bellusci and striker Mirco Antenucci has been speaking to Tutto Mercato Web about the future of his two clients:
"Giuseppe had a very good season. Is it possible to see him in Italy? He has a three-year contract and Cellino deems him important. They are then safely that the president wants to build a strong team to aim high.
“The same holds true for Mirco. He was the team's top scorer with ten goals although in the final part of the season with the new coach he did not play with the same continuity.
“However, he wants to stay because Cellino considers him equally important."
The future of the pair has seemed up in the air after what appears to be a change in tact at Leeds this summer. So far recruitment has been closer to home rather than the Italian surge that occurred last summer, of which Bellusci and Antenucci were a part of.
Both had their troubles last season as well. They were two members of the infamous ‘sicknote six’ and Antenucci found himself out of the team under the management of Neil Redfearn.
However, out of the Italian imports from last summer, these two were perhaps the best. Antenucci looks like he can grab a goal in any circumstance and Bellusci seems to be a top defender who could form an excellent partnership with Sol Bamba at the heart of the Leeds defence.
So hearing that the pair intend to stay should be music to the ears.
